Discussions on agroecological transitions during the "Food and Territories Forum" in Teresopolis, Brasil.

From November the 16th to 18th, the fifth edition of the "Food and Territories Forum" organized by Réseau Bretagne Solidaire took place in the municipality of Teresopolis, in the heart of the Serra Fluminense, one of ATTER's case studies. The forum brought together elected representatives, farmers, civil society representatives, educators and researchers from the three partner countries involved in the forum (Brazil, France, Burkina Faso) to discuss the theme of agroecological transitions.

The challenge of attracting a large number of farmers from various sectors of the state of Rio de Janeiro and other Brazilian states was met, as they made up the majority of the audience of around 200 people. Brittany was also well represented, with four representatives from the Bruded network of exchanges between elected representatives, demonstrating the interest of Breton rural communities in exchanges with players from other countries.

The ATTER project was represented by 8 members from Terralim, Urgenci, INRAE and CPDA/UFRRJ, and its approach and network of cases and partners were presented in the introductory plenary session. The forum was organized around various round table sessions and workshops.
Discussions over the two days outlined the prospect of thematic exchanges in 2024 between the forum's partner countries, which will be facilitated by funding from the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. Initial themes such as public policies for agro-ecological transition, the role of women in agro-ecology, setting up young farmers, organic rice growing and peasant seeds emerged. Discussions will continue with the ATTER network, which shares certain themes and the approach of exchanges between actors from different contexts.
